The owner and manager of the company is the chemical engineer Hikola Hlebarov, who is the creator and producer of 786 herb tinctures “Elixir”. Nikola Hlebarov is also the founder of the "Academy of Elixirs", he is the winner of numerous awards: Gold statuettes of "Phenomena" Association for the years 1997 and 2000, silver medal from EUREKA – Brussels in year 2000, gold medal from Dubai in year 2000, gold medal from the Second World Pharmacy Congress – Albena in year 2000, gold cup and diploma for 1st place at the "Archimedes" World Exhibition for Innovations – Moscow in year 2001, "Grand Prix" at "Eurointellect" – Sofia in year 2001, gold metal for innovations – Pittsburg, USA in year 2001, "Gold Oscar" for an all-round activity at EUREKA – Brussels in year 2001.
Academician Nikola Hlebarov was born on the 14th of August 1943. He graduated from the Institute for Chemistry and Technology in Sofia. He worked at various scientific and research institutes, having as a main research field the effect of herbs extracts on the human body. For a period of more than 30 years of active work he has created 786 unique herb tinctures of the "ELIXIR" trade mark, which have been available on the Bulgarian market since 1995. He is the author of 4 books published both in Bulgarian and English, where the products and the clinical research on their efficacy have been described. His scientific work is orientated also towards the field of the herb’s application into the food and cosmetics industries.
Already for a period of ten years Acad. Hlebarov has been giving free consultations throughout Bulgaria. His credo is: "I DO NOT WAIT FOR ANY SPECIAL AWARD, MY STRIVING IS TO HELP PEOPLE TO BE HEALTHIER AND MORE CONFIDENT."
What is "ELIXIR"?
All kinds of "ELIXIR"-s are water-ethanol extracts of various herb combinations, such that have a favourable effect on the body’s functions and structures. The various herb combinations have been developed in result of the gained experience, the years of scientific and applied work in the field of the development of technological processes and of the wide up-to-date scientific literature consultations with regard to the effect of the biologically active substances, contained in herbs, and of an extensive clinical research of a considerable part of the herb alimentary supplements.
The production technology of "ELIXIR" was created in a way that, by certain technological parameters, biologically active substances (polyphenols, carotenoids, amynoacids, aromatic substances, vitamins etc.) are extracted to a maximum degree from a suitably chosen combination of herbs. By the analyses done at different laboratories (Hygienic-epidemiological Institute – Sofia, laboratory NBMS- Sofia; NIL to MAHV at WIHWP- Plovdiv, etc.) the availability of the above biologically active substances has been confirmed.
The varied research substantiates that the "ELIXIR" alimentary supplements are a standardized product with specific indicators for each type of quality. The herb extracts correspond to all requirements for harmlessness. "ELIXIR" has an anti-oxidizing, anti-mitotic, antivirus and antibacterial effect; it does not create resistances and has zero toxicity. These qualities allow you to use it both independently and in combination with various medicaments.

Pirogov" – Sofia, Military Medical Institute – Varna, Clinics of Children’s Endocrinology and Gastroenterology, Children’s Diseases Dispensary – Russe, Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment of Pulmonary Diseases – Troyan, Scientific-research sector at the Universtity of Alimentary Technologies, the town of Plovdiv, etc. confirm the various elixirs’ favourable effeñt on the body structures and functions. Clinical research on the effect of "ELIXIR 9" on HIV patients, carried out at the Military Medical Institute in Sofia, was presented by Assoc. Prof. PHD K. Mekushinov, Head of the "Virology" department at the Military Medical Institute in Sofia, at the 13th and 14th AIDS international conference in Durban (SAR), July 2000 and in Barcelona (Spain), July 2002, respectively.
All "ELIXIR" products have been coordinated with the Ministry of Health of Bulgaria. The numerous letters of grateful acknowledgement to Academician N. Hlebarov from his clients and the received by him awards in Bulgaria and abroad are evidence of the real efficacy of the created by him herb-based products.

What does "Elixir" contain?
Numerous scientific studies have demonstrated that Elixir contains substances exhibiting high effect such as:
- Ursolic and oleic acid – both acids and their products are bioactive antioxidants which inhibit the free radicals in the body and are instrumental to the functioning of the immune system. Both acids are metabolites necessary in the various stages of the living process.
- Tannins – substances with pronounced antioxidant and bacteriostatic effects. They react with the protein part of the structure of antioxidant enzymes.
- Flavonoids – known also as bioflavonoids – a class of secondary vegetable metabolites known for their antioxidant effect and their ability to strengthen the capillary cells – the so called P-vitamin activity. Elexir-3 contains the following types of flavonoids: rutin, kempferol and quercetin. Some flavonoids also influence the level of hormones by decomposing the serotonin and endorphins, or the hormones of happiness which give a feeling of satisfaction, raise spirits and improve sleep.
- Phenolic compounds – stimulating the enzyme-aided detoxication processes thereby increasing the chances of the body to deactivate potentially carcinogenic substances. These compounds also inhibit directly the formation of carcinogenic nitroso compounds both in foods and the gastrointestinal tract.
- Vitamins: C, K, P, B1, B2, B6, Bc, E, PP, Provitamin A
Properties and importance of antioxidants
Oxidation is a necessary reaction involved in metabolism in the human body. Sometimes, however, under the impact of various factors, it leads to the formation of an excessive amount of residual metabolism products – the so called free radicals. The free radicals and other reactive oxygen compounds trigger chain reactions of oxidation within the human body thereby damaging the cells and disrupting their functions. At least 2 kg of harmful oxygen compounds forms in the human body each year. Accumulation of greater amounts of free radicals can be attributed to progressing age, physical exercise, smoking, inflammatory processes in the body, environmental pollution, stress, radiation, toxic substances, ingestion of some drugs etc. Oxidation caused by free radicals plays a part in contracting cancer, cardio-vascular and neurological diseases. The adverse impacts of radicals also include muscular damage, cell ageing and spermatogenesis disorders. As, to a certain degree, the oxidation phenomena and formation of free radicals represent an irreversible and natural process, the body activates the so called antioxidant enzymes which delay the formation of free radicals. These antioxidant enzymes, called antioxidants, are synthesised in plants. The environmental pollution and adverse impacts of the modern way of living necessitate the administration of additional agents to increase the intake, formation and effect of antioxidant enzymes. The importance of food additives, "Elixir" being one of them, is great – they stimulate the metabolism and supply vitally needed antioxidants.
Analysis of results from conducted research on "Elixir-3" about its antioxidant effect
Elixir-3 is a combination of curative plants extracted by a method enabling the preservation to a maximum degree of the effects of the listed substances. The scientific results testify to an antioxidant activity 87.5 % exhibited by the food additive. Determination of the total phenolic substances by the method of Folin-Ciocalten (1979) and such of the level of flavonoids by high-efficiency liquid chromatography using the Perkin-Elmer apparatus. Anti-oxidant activity was established using the method of Williams (1995). The antioxidant activity, also known as antiradical activity, is assessed by the degree to which the substance being tested (Elixir-3 in this case) traps the inhibitor and neutralizes the synthetic free radical DPPH. The EC 50 index is used for the purpose of comparison with the effect of other products. This index gives the quantity of tested product neutralising 1 gram of free radical DPPH. The lower the value of the index, the higher the antioxidant effect is.
The effective concentration EC 50 shows that 28.3 parts of Elixir-3 are needed for the inhibition of 50 % of the DPPH free radical. Tracing the antiradical activity index testifies to an almost complete inhibition of the free radical – 87.5 %.
The spectrophotometric method of testing the level of total phenolic substances in Elixir-3 has yielded a value of 11.3. Compared to Bulgarian red and white wines, for example, the food additive contains a considerably greater amount of phenols.
The liquid chromatography method has revealed the presence of the following amounts of flavonoids: rutin – 58.2 mg%, kempferol – 2.1 mg% and quercetin – 1.9 mg%.
The analysis of these data leads to the conclusion that Elixir-3 traps and inhibits the free radicals while exhibiting an extremely high antioxidant effect – 87.5 %. This justifies using Elixir-3 preventively and therapeutically as such and in combination with various medicinal products.
Numerous laboratory and clinical investigations perfomed up to now give ground to draw the following conclusions:
- The Elixirs are excellent standardised products on herbal basis – aqueous-alcoholic extracts obtained by a technology which allows maximum extraction of water- and oil-soluble components of the plants. They are produced only from non-toxic herbs licenced from the Ministry of Health as fitted for use.
- The Elixirs are absolutely harmless, they have no side-effects, manifest null toxicity, do not lead to resistance in bacterial and virus strains. They stimulate the organism and activate the potential health with which each human body is endowed, their activity is rapid and effective, thus improving the natural defence mechanisms.
- The Elixirs possess high values of antioxidant, antibacterial, antivirus and antiparasitic activity, and the results from their application against diseases are excellent. They disrupt the defence mechanisms of the bacteria, reach the target sites in the cells, lacerate the cell wall and thus they destroy the bacteria.
- The products "Elixir" are also applied with good results in the fields of agriculture and animal farming, in cosmetic and food processing industry.

No 47 of the Ministry of Health regarding food supplement requirements.
The herbal tinctures do not contain harmful to the health constituents.
