A Long Survey of the Effect of Bulgarian Herbal Extracts on 11 Patients with HIV- Infection

Introduction
It is well known, that HIV destroys mainly the immune system of the infected body, damaging the general condition ( reduced working capacity down to adynamia, loss of body weight, appetite, sleep etc.), which can be registered by way of specific immune markers and objective clinical investigations. The survey of these parameters has an important diagnostic and prognostic significance for the initial clinical image of the AIDS syndrome in symptomless HIV carrier. Registration of unfavourable al¬ternations of those indicis gives an opportunity for a timely influence on the immunity and general helth condition and for setting farther away the start point of the Syndrome as well as for life quality improving. Besides the accepted triple combination of antiretroviral preparations as therapeutic standard, there are also breaking news for the favourable influence and preserving of the symptomless period of the HIV infection with the assistance of native means, which influence positively the affected immunity and prolonge the asymptomatic period. read more »

In the period of January 1997 June 2002 studies were performed on the herbal tincture Elixir-3:
- Under the conditions of external gamma irradiation of experimental animals, 1997.
- Under the conditions of gamma irradiation (acute and fractionated with low doses) using prophylactic and therapeutic scheme of application, 2000.
- On molecular biochemical, haematological and cytogenetic changes in mice during independent and combined actiion of a cytostatic and gamma irradiation, 2001.

Protocol for the investigation of the herbal tincture "Elixir-3" performed in the Dispensery for prevention of pulmonary diseases in Rousse
the course of a complex treatment of patients with chronic bronchitis at the stage of aggravation, according to a contract between Eng. N. Hlebarov, President of the firm "St. Nicola" Ltd. and Dr. H. Mitev, Ph.D., at the Pulmonary hospital in Rousse.
The aim of this study was to follow up the effectiveness of the inhalation application of the herbal tincture "Elixir-3" in the course of a complex treatment of patients with chronic bronchitis at the stage of aggravation. A total of 20 patients with chronic bronchitis at the stage of aggravation were examined and divided into two clinical groups: Group I with inhalation application of Elixir- 3 and group II - control group, where the patients did not use herbal tincture. read more »
Protocol of a four-month investigation of Elixir-11 used as an auxiliary means in patients suffering from tuberculosis
The clinical examination started with 20 patients-volunteers suffering from pulmonary and non-pulmonary tuberculosis who were informed in advance about the clinical effects of this preparation. The patients were subjected to preliminary clinical examination and paraclinical analyses with respect to the hepatic and renal functions. They were also subjected to an obligatory X-ray control reflecting the specific manifestations of the tuberculous disease and the degree of damage on their organisms. Protocol of a study on the activity of Elixir-11 used as an additional means during the treatment of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis at the Pulmonary hospital in the town of Troyan
3rd stage, December 4, 2002 - January 4, 2003.
After a two-month application of the herbal preparation Elixir- 11 as an additional therapy of six patients with pulmonary tuberculosis, and in connection of the good clinical effect we continued the treatment of the above-mentioned patients including two newly tuberculosis-infected patients. The new patients were subjected to roentgenological, haematological, biochemical, microbiological and functional examinations in order to completely elucidate the diagnosis. read more »
Protocol of a two-month clinical investigation of the herbal tincture Elixir-27 used as an auxiliary means in patients with asthmatic and spastic disorders of the respiratory system
The clinical investigation was performed by a team of doctors at a department of the State Pulmonary Hospital in the city of Rousse on 15 patients suffering from bronchial asthma and asthmatic bronchites, mainly of infectious-allergic type. The status of these patients was followed up under conditions of stationary treatment and later as ambulant therapy up to the expiration of the term. Effects of the auxiliary activity of the tincture were recorded according to the following clinical criteria: general status, physical status, ausculatory findings, lack of cyanosis, as well as some paraclinical parameters. read more »
