Protocol of a two-month clinical investigation of the herbal tincture Elixir-27 used as an auxiliary means in patients with asthmatic and spastic disorders of the respiratory system
The clinical investigation was performed by a team of doctors at a department of the State Pulmonary Hospital in the city of Rousse on 15 patients suffering from bronchial asthma and asthmatic bronchites, mainly of infectious-allergic type. The status of these patients was followed up under conditions of stationary treatment and later as ambulant therapy up to the expiration of the term. Effects of the auxiliary activity of the tincture were recorded according to the following clinical criteria: general status, physical status, ausculatory findings, lack of cyanosis, as well as some paraclinical parameters.
Results
In the course of this investigation and recording the final clinical and paraclinical effects of the tincture it was established that there is a positive action of the tincture with respect to:
- The general status of the patients - improved self-confidence, enhanced vital tone, strengthening of the physical and psychic conditions.
- Reduction of broncho-pulmonary syndrome - in most patients the cough became weaker, not so frequent and more productive.
- The periods between asthmatic fits became longer than in the remaining patients who did not use Elixir- 27 although the supporting therapy was the same in both groups.
- In patients with allergic type of pulmonary diseases in which on principle the asthmatic attacks never disappear completely, a milder bronchospasm was observed in the periods between the fits than in patients who did not use Elixir-27.
- The preparation was well accepted by all patients who said that the elixir has a good tolerance with regard to its taste and organoleptic quality.
- All patients did not interrupt the basic treatment of the asthma which was well combined with the application of Elixir-27.
Conclusions
- Elixir-27, a herbal tincture composed of turones pini, (Achillea millefolium L.), horsetail (Equisetum arvense L.), peppermint (Mentha piperita), yarrow (Achillea millefolium L.) and ethanol (63-67°), may be used with a very good effect as a supporting means to the basic treatment of bronchial asthma of infectious-allerdic type.
- Elixir-27 should be applied only in the periods between fits of the disease.
- The effects of Elixir-27 include strengthening of the whole organism, expectoration, and bronchodilation (reduction of the bronchospasm).
- Elixir-27 is well-accepted by the human organism either independently or in combination with the pharmaceutical medicaments.
- Elixir-27 has no side toxic and allergic effects and it is completely harmless to the human organism.
